The Media Department is located on the second floor of the Bloomfield Library for Humanities and Social Sciences and offers four screening rooms equipped with projectors and podiums with internet access, personal computers with USB and laptop connections; Blu ray, HD video, cd and dvd players. The rooms accommodate 15, 52, 54 and 90 viewers. The screening rooms may be booked for course lectures and events such as film screenings, book launches, seminars and conventions. Reservations may be made at  In addition, an A3 scanner is available for use.


Materials in the Media Department may be used on-site by Hebrew University students and faculty. There is also an editing workstation for making clips to be screened in lectures. Dvd’s circulate for one day but audio compact discs and videocassettes must be used on-site and do not circulate. Media Collection

The collection serves all faculties of the university with a focus on Social Sciences and Humanities. It includes feature films, documentaries , dramatic and opera productions in a wide range of languages. All material is searchable in the library catalogue.

Music Collection

The Music collection is located on the second floor adjacent to the Media Department. The collection serves the faculty, researchers and students of the Musicology Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The collection consists of classical music, Israeli music, Hebrew and Jewish songs. It is comprised of reference works and encyclopedias, academic research, music theory, Master and Doctoral theses, electronic and print periodicals, series, scores, records, compact discs, dvd’s and the following databases:

Access and use

Library card holders may borrow dvd’s marked for one day loan during opening hours. Compact discs and videocassettes may be used in the library.

Fines for late return are 10 shekels a day, including weekends and holidays.
