Who is entitled to order?

Eligibility: anyone with a valid reader’s card. This service is available to Hebrew University researchers, lecturers and students (for free from 01/11/18 – pilot project)

How does one order?

  • Forms can be obtained at the entrance to the Interlibrary Loan Department and on the website.
  • Orders are usually supplied within two weeks.
  • After the item has arrived, you will be notified by e-mail. Books will be kept for two weeks from the date of arrival. Articles will be sent by e-mail.
  • When the department is closed, please approach the circulation desk for receipt of your book.
  • Books that are being returned can be placed in the box at the entrance to the interlibrary loan department. Books can be loaned for 8 weeks only, no renewals.
  • If the book is required before then, a notice will be sent to the reader.

What can be ordered?

Mt. Scopus Readers

  1. Books from libraries on other Hebrew University campuses, and other university and college libraries in Israel and abroad that can be loaned for a week and more.
  2. Articles from university and college libraries in Israel and abroad (not microfilm).
  3. For Scanned items from the library's collection during the "Corona Period" please, fill out this form

This service is free of charge (pilot project from 01/11/18)

Delay or non-return of books

  • A reader who has not returned a book on time will have his/her library privileges blocked.
  • A reader who has lost a book will be required to compensate the lending library. Until payment has been settled, all library privileges will be blocked. 

The interlibrary loan service enables Hebrew University faculty and students to order books, and articles in books and journals that are not available in the library from other Hebrew University libraries, and from libraries and colleges in Israel and abroad.

The service is available free of charge (as part of the pilot) for research and teaching purposes, to all students, researchers and academic and administrative staff. Machon Magid students and external students are not included in the pilot and are required to pay for the service.

Copyright Notice

The service is carried out in accordance with the Copyright Law. The law stipulates that it is forbidden to photocopy, print or scan a substantial part of copyrighted works without the permission of the copyright owner, except for photocopies, scans and print-outs under the framework of "fair use" for the following purposes: private study, research, critique, review, news reports, teaching or during examinations in an educational institution. The library reserves the right to refuse to accept an order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order violates copyright restrictions.

Anyone who photocopies, prints or scans material contrary to these provisions, violates the law.

 

Harman Science Library

The interlibrary loan service allows readers to order books and articles from other libraries within the Library Authority, as well as from other academic libraries in Israel and abroad.

Who can place an order?

Hebrew university faculty and students.

 

The service is free (as a trial) to students, researchers, academic and administrative faculty for research and teaching purposes. Course auditors and paying outside readers are not included in the trial and must pay for the service.

Ordering books and articles which are available in the library is not free.

 

Copyright Limitations

Orders are subject to copyright laws. By law, it is forbidden to copy or print a significant portion of a work for which copyrights are in force without the consent of the copyright owner, unless the copies\scans\printings are done in fair use for purposes such as: self-teaching, research, critique, review, journalistic reporting, introduction, or teaching and examination done by an educational institution.

 

Any person who copies, prints, or scans in a manner contrary to these instructions is breaking the law.

Attention: the required book or journal may be in the library. Check the catalog before ordering.

When the ordered item arrives, a message will be sent to the reader's email address.

Electronic copies of articles will be sent in a PDF file to the reader's email address.

 

Fines

  • A reader who has ordered an item through the Interlibrary Loan system and does not come to pick it up will still be charged for it.
  • A reader who does not return a requested book will be blocked from borrowing new books and extending already-borrowed books.
  • A reader who has lost a book will be charged a fine determined by the loaning library. Until payment has been made, the reader will be blocked from borrowing new books and extending already-borrowed books.

 

Muriel & Philip Berman Medical Library

Interlibrary Loan allows Hebrew University students and faculty to order books and digital copies of journal articles from the Library Authority and other academic libraries in Israel.

The service is offered to staff and students, for research and teaching purposes for free during 2019/20 academic year (within the framework of a pilot project). It does not include resources that are found in the library.

Anyone with a valid reader's card is allowed to use the book loan service.

The book/article you require could be available in the library. Please check the catalog before ordering.

Law Library

 

An inter-library loans (ILL) service allows Hebrew University students and faculty to order books and journal articles from the Hebrew University Library Authority libraries and other academic libraries in Israel and the world for the purpose of research and teaching.
ILL ordering from Israeli universities is free of charge.
ILL orders from Israeli colleges obliged by payment:
Book order – 25 NIS.
Article order – 25 NIS (handling costs) + 8 NIS for every ten pages.

Means of payment
The order can be paid by: credit card, cash, or budget clause number (for those entitled).
Important: Before requesting an inter library loan, check in the HUfind catalogue to see that the book or the journal needed is not owned by the library.
Every order handled by the library will be charged even if the requester is no longer in need of the material. Disregarding the payment will prevent from the user receiving any further library services.
An e-mail notification upon arrival in the library of the requested book to the chosen library will be sent by an e-mail.
The requested article will be sent by e-mail in PDF format.

Fines
