  •  For research and teaching purposes to students, researchers, teaching faculty and administrative employees. 
  •  “Free Listeners” enrolled through the Magid Institute and external readers need to pay for this service.
  • If the library holds an electronic version of the book, but the reader wishes to obtain a print copy, the reader needs to pay for the order (see prices at the bottom of the page)

How to order?

  •  Interlibrary loan orders can be ordered by means of an online form in the library’s catalog under the tag "interlibrary loans".

 Before filling out an order please identify yourself in the library system with your ID and personal code (the code used for the other university systems)

  • For instructions on how to order a physical book or a scan of a chapter from a book click here
  • For instructions on how to order a scan of an article from a journal click here
  • Upon arrival of the item, the reader will receive notification by email. The book will be kept in the office up to one month from its date of arrival; articles will be sent by email.
  • When the department is closed, please contact the circulation desk staff, who will bring you the requested book.

What can be ordered?

  • Books from other university libraries, from college libraries, from other Hebrew University Library Authority libraries (not on Mount Scopus Campus) and from abroad (currently this service is inactive due to Covid-19 restrictions) if they are loanable in the lending libraries for a minimum of a week.
  • Articles from other university and college libraries in Israel and from abroad
  • DVD's, films and microfilms cannot be ordered.
     
  • For scans of articles from the Mount Scopus Library collection during the Covid-19 pandemic please fill in an online form

 Returning Books

  •  Return books to the return box at the entrance to the Interlibrary Loan Department. The return date is 8 weeks following arrival, without extensions.
  •  If the book is requested sooner, the reader will receive a message.
  • A reader who does not return the book on time - will have his/her library rights blocked.
  • A reader who has lost a book will be charged a price determined by the lending library. Until payment is settled, lending and renewal rights in the library will be blocked.

Copyright Restrictions

Orders are subject to copyright law. According to the provisions of the law, it is absolutely forbidden to photocopy, print or scan substantial parts of copyrighted works, without permission from the rights holders except for photocopies, scans or prints under the framework of "fair use" for the following purposes: self-study, research, critique, review, journalistic reporting, prefaces, teaching and an examination by an educational institution. The library reserves the right not to accept an order that, in its view, violates the copyright restrictions law.

The interlibrary loan service allows readers to order books and articles from other libraries within the Library Authority, as well as from other academic libraries in Israel and abroad.

Who can place an order?

Hebrew university faculty and students.

 

The service is free to students, researchers, academic and administrative faculty for research and teaching purposes.

Course auditors and paying outside readers are not included in the free service  and must pay for the service.

Ordering books and articles which are available in the library is not free.

 

Copyright Limitations

Orders are subject to copyright laws. By law, it is forbidden to copy or print a significant portion of a work for which copyrights are in force without the consent of the copyright owner, unless the copies\scans\printings are done in fair use for purposes such as: self-teaching, research, critique, review, journalistic reporting, introduction, or teaching and examination done by an educational institution.

 

Any person who copies, prints, or scans in a manner contrary to these instructions is breaking the law.

25 ILS handling costs + the cost of the article (as set by the library from which the article was ordered).

How to Order

Attention: the required book or journal may be in the library. Check the catalog before ordering.

 

Fill out the online order form in the library’s catalog under the tag "interlibrary loans".

 Before filling out an order please sign in to the library system with your Huji mail and password or temporary code.

 

When the ordered item arrives, a message will be sent to the reader's email address.

Electronic copies of articles will be sent in a PDF file to the reader's email address.

 

Fines

  • A reader who has ordered an item through the Interlibrary Loan system and does not come to pick it up will still be charged for it.
  • A reader who does not return a requested book will be blocked from borrowing new books and extending already-borrowed books.
  • A reader who has lost a book will be charged a fine determined by the loaning library. Until payment has been made, the reader will be blocked from borrowing new books and extending already-borrowed books.

 

Muriel & Philip Berman Medical Library

Interlibrary Loan services at the medical library allow Hebrew University and Hadassah students and faculty to order books from other academic libraries in Israel, or scans of journal articles and book chapters from other academic libraries in Israel or abroad.  

The service is free to students, researchers, academic faculty and administrators of the Hebrew University or Hadassah Hospital for academic needs, research and instruction only

The service does not include resources that are found in the library. 

Anyone with a valid reader's card is allowed to use the book loan service.

Note that the book/article you require could be available in the library. Please check the catalog before ordering.

How to Order

Log-in to your library account, and search for the article/book in the catalog. If unavailable, fill in the interlibrary form (select the "Berman medical library" as your pickup location, even if you request a digital item).

Copyright and Fair Use

Book orders are subject to the Copyright Law. Accordingly, it is forbidden to photocopy, print, or scan the major part of a copyrighted work without the express permission of the copyright holder.

The user is permitted to make "fair use" only of the protected material.

The "fair use" clause of The Copyright Law of 2007 (Israel)  implies that this material can be used for personal, educational or research purposes. It is not for commercial use. Distribution of these materials or making them accessible to anyone else is strictly forbidden.

Disregard of these instructions is a violation of the law.

One is allowed to order scanned sections of a book provided it does not exceed 20% of the content of the book.

Law Library

An interlibrary loans (ILL) service allows Hebrew University students and faculty to order books and journal articles from the Hebrew University Library Authority libraries and other academic libraries in Israel and the world for research and teaching.

ILL ordering from Israeli universities is free of charge.

How to order:

Interlibrary loan orders can be ordered via an online form in the library's catalog under the tag "interlibrary loans".

Before filling out an order, please identify yourself in the library system with your email and password or with your ID number and email.

Upon the arrival of the book, the reader will receive a notification by email. The book will be kept in the library for up to one month from its date of arrival. 
Electronic items will be sent by email.

Returning print book:

A loaned book can be in use for up to 8 weeks from the date of its arrival at the library. No extensions can be given.
If the book is requested sooner, the reader will be notified by email.
Return the book to the circulation desk in the Law Library. 

A reader who does not return the book on time  - lending and renewal services in the library will be blocked. 

A reader who has lost a book will be charged a price determined by the lending library. Until payment is settled, lending and renewal services in the library will be blocked.

Interlibrary Loan allows Hebrew University students and faculty to order books and journal articles from the Library Authority and other academic libraries in Israel and the world.

The service is offered to staff and students, for research and teaching purposes for free

Fiction is available for free From The Hebrew University Libraries.  Fiction from other universities for fee of  16 NIS, from colleges 25 NIS.

Anyone with a valid reader's card is allowed to use this service.

The book/article you require could be available in the library. Please check the catalogue before ordering.

For researchers and students from the Hebrew university, Please fill in the form to request a book \ chapter \ article. University identification is required.
