There is no charge for this service.

Who is entitled to use the service?

Anyone with a valid reader’s card. This service is for teachers and students of the Hebrew University (for free from 01/11/18 – pilot project)

How does one use the service?

  • Forms can be obtained at the entrance to the Interlibrary Loan Department or from the links at the top of this page.
  • After your order is received (and usually within two weeks), you will be contacted by e-mail. Books will be kept for you for in the Interlibrary Loan Department for two weeks. If the department is closed please request your order from the supervisor of the Circulation Department. Articles will be sent by e-mail.
  • Books are loaned for only 8 weeks, no renewals.
  • If the book is required by the loaning library, a notice will be sent to the reader.

What can be ordered?

Mt. Scopus Readers

  1. Books from other Hebrew University campuses and other university and college libraries in Israel and abroad that are for loan for a week and more.
  2. Articles from university and college libraries in Israel and abroad (not from microfilms).
  3. Scans of materials from the library collection is a charged service, available only for borrowers with a budget number

Readers from Abroad

  1. For articles from books or journals held in the Hebrew University Libraries, please turn to your respective Interlibrary Loan Department at your institution.
  2. Please note: We do not send books from our collection abroad. You may try to locate the  item you need at the National Library and request it from their Interlibrary Loan Department, 

This service is free of charge (pilot project from 01/11/18)

Fines

  • Readers who do not return requested items on time will have their library privileges revoked until the items are returned and all fees are paid.
  • Readers who lose a book will have their library privileges revoked until payment is made to the Interlibrary Loan Department for the loaning library.

Copyright Notice

Copyright Law governs the making of photocopies and other reproductions of copyright material. Libraries and archives are authorized to provide a photocopy or other reproduction for private study, scholarship or research only. If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or other reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user will be liable for copyright infringement. The library reserves the right to refuse to accept an order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order violates copyright restrictions.

 

 

 

Harman Science Library

The interlibrary loan service allows readers to order books and articles from other libraries of the library authority, and other academic libraries in Israel and abroad.

Who can place an order?

Hebrew university faculty and students.

 

The service is free (as a trial) for research and teaching purposes for students, researchers, and academic and administrative faculty. Course auditors and paying outside readers are not included in the trial and must pay for the service.

Ordering books and libraries which are in the library are not free.

 

Copyright Limitations

Orders are subject to copyright laws. By law, it is forbidden to copy or print a significant portion of works for which copyrights are in force without the consent of the copyright owner, unless the copies\scans\printings are done in fair use for purposes such as: self-teaching, research, critique, review, journalistic reporting, introduction, or teaching and examination done by an educational institution.

 

Any person who copies, prints, or scans in a manner contrary to these instructions is breaking the law.

Ordering a book in Israel:

Ordering from another Hebrew University library – NIS 10

Ordering from another Israeli university library – NIS 16

Ordering from an Israeli college library – NIS 25

 

Ordering a photocopy of an article from an Israeli university or from a Hebrew University library (not on the Mt. Scopus campus)

Up to 50 pages – 20 NIS

Over 50 pages – 50 NIS

 

Ordering a photocopy of an article from an Israeli college

NIS 25 handling costs + NIS 8 for every 10 pages

 

Ordering a photocopy of an article from overseas

NIS 25 handling costs + the cost of the article (as set by the library from which the article was ordered).

Means of payment = credit card, cash, or budget clause number (for those entitled)

 

How to Order

Attention: the required book or journal may be in the library. Check the catalog before ordering.

When the ordered item arrives, whoever ordered it will be notified by phone or by email.

PDF photocopies of articles will be sent to the reader's email address.

 

Fines

  • A reader who has ordered an Inter-Library Loan and does not take will still be charged for it.
  • A reader who does not return a requested book will be blocked from borrowing or extending already-borrowed books.
  • A reader who has lost a book will be charged with a fine determined by the loaning library. Until payment has been made, the reader will be blocked from borrowing or extending already-borrowed books.

 

Muriel & Philip Berman Medical Library

Interlibrary Loan allows Hebrew University students and faculty to order books and digital copies of journal articles from the Library Authority and other academic libraries in Israel.

The service is offered to staff and students, for research and teaching purposes for free during 2019/20 academic year (within the framework of a pilot project). It does not include resources that are found in the library.

Anyone with a valid reader's card is allowed to use the book loan service.

The book/article you require could be available in the library. Please check the catalog before ordering.

The user is permitted to make "fair use" only of the protected material.

The "fair use" clause of The Copyright Law of 2007 (Israel)  implies that this material can be used for personal, educational or research purposes. It is not for commercial use. Distribution of these materials or making them accessible to anyone else is strictly forbidden.

How to Order
Fill out an online order form or refer to the Inter-Library Loan Department on the entrance floor, next to the Circulation Desk.

  • When the ordered item arrives, an email will be sent to the person who ordered it.
  • The ordered item must be picked up from the Inter-Library Loan Department.
  • Lecturers entitled to a university budget clause number will receive the ordered items by email.

Fines

  • A reader who has ordered an Inter-Library Loan and does not pick it up will still be charged for it.
  • A reader who does not return a requested book will be blocked from borrowing or extending already-borrowed books.
  • A reader who has lost a book will be charged the cost of replacing the book and until payment has been made, will be blocked from borrowing or extending already-borrowed books.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan allows Hebrew University students and faculty to order books and journal articles from the Library Authority and other academic libraries in Israel and the world.

The service is offered to staff and students, for research and teaching purposes for free during 2019/20 academic year. 

 

Fiction is available for a fee : From Hebrew University Libraries  10 NIS, other universities 16 NIS, from colleges 25 NIS.

 

Anyone with a valid reader's card is allowed to use this service.

 

The book/article you require could be available in the library. Please check the catalogue before ordering.
